Prayer
Today The Lord wants me to share a word about prayer. So many times we feel that our prayers don’t make a difference or we feel like we don’t know what to pray or how to pray.
As long as there is faith behind your prayer it has an impact. It is not about fancy words or drawn out speeches. The Bible says that even with faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains (Matthew 17:20-21). God is just longing for us to be willing to meet with Him and spend our time communicating with Him. There is no right or wrong way to pray to Him as long as there is faith. Also, your prayer life and types of prayers that you will pray change as your seasons of life change. There are prayers that are prayed in tongues, prayers that are whispered in the quietness of night, prayers that are full of decrees and declarations. Some prayers are just saying the name Jesus out loud, inviting Him into your circumstance. Sometimes it is just time spent in complete silence, waiting on the Lord. Other times prayers are loud, full of worship and adoration. There are seasons when we can’t do anything but cry, yet (Romans 8:26-27) 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Sometimes we pray in rejoicing, thanking God for all that He has done. Other times we come weeping asking for His help and deliverance. God is showing me that prayer is not a one size fits all type of thing and there is a season for all different types of prayers. The important thing is that we are seeking the face of the Lord and allowing Him to speak to us.
Prayer is like a puzzle. No two pieces are the same, but each one is important and if one piece is missing, the picture is incomplete. So, I encourage you to ask God what type of prayer is for you in this season. Let Him show you what He requires and follow that up with obedience.
